help with the WORD

i would like to have your gals help me out. i'm about to start working on a project. i'm hoping that monday or tuesday, i can show it to you. i'm hoping in a few weeks, i can give away something similar. i got the idea from here and here. and to be honest, one day, i want to do this. such cute ideas. my doors have 6 smaller pannels in them. i wonder if it would still work on the middle two?? let me know. anyway...getting to the point. i want your help in choosing some Bible verses to rotate on my tray. my tray is kind of big, so don't hold back. tell me, what are some of your favorites? they can be tried and true, or they can be a little off. i love Bible humor. for instance, check out this one. am i the only one who finds this both a little disturbing, but funny? maybe so. anyway, let me know. help me out.

What a great way to also memorize bible verse each week! Very creative. Okay here are several verses I found during 2am feeding...this means you will have to excuse any typos...
Romans 3:23. For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
Proverbs 3:5 trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Jeramiah 29:11 FOr I know the plans I have for you."
John 14:1. Do not let your heart be troubled. Trust in GOD; trust also in me.
Matthew 11:28 Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. More to come at a later date! Thanks for the idea about the bows.

Becky,

I love the idea and can't wait to see the final project! I also love the fact that someone else has a special part in their heart for the bear story. AJ and I both agree that it's not tuaght enough in Sunday School! I've got some scripture ideas -- some funny, most serious -- but there are a few I want look up and make usre I've got the wording right, so I'll e-mail them to you.

Also, speaking of funny verses, I was reading Sabrina's suggestions above and Matthew 11:28 looked a little funny to me because the way teh spacing was (on my computer, at least) it seemed to have two unfamiliar sentences at the end.

Sabrina - thanks for laughing, too! It made my morning!

Okay – here are some of my favorite verses. I’m at work, so I don’t have my Bible here with a full list of good’uns, but here are some to add to the list to help get you started. I looked ’em up to make sure I was quoting them right. These are all the NIV translations:

-Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

-Psalm 90:2: Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. [The sense of eternity conveyed through the “are” here just gives me chills ever time I read it.]

-Hebrews 13:2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

-Galatians 5:6b The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. [The first part has to do with circumcision, which may not quite be what you want to be advertising…]

-I Corinthians 1:9: God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

-I Corinthians 2:12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.

-I Corinthians 3:23 You are of Christ, and Christ is of God.

-II Corinthians 2:3-6 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. [You said it was a big board...]

-II Corinthians 7:4 I have great confidence in you; I take great pride in you. I am greatly encouraged; in all our troubles my joy knows no bounds

-James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Aaaaand here are some of the funny ones:

Job 13:2: What you know, I also know; I am not inferior to you. [Good for days when the kiddos are know-it-alls and/or back-talking]

Job 19:17 My breath is offensive to my wife; I am loathsome to my own brothers.

1 Corinthians 4:1: I am not writing this to shame you, but to warn you, as my dear children. [This might be good to post at the bottom of everything!]

II Corinthains 2:1 So I made up my mind that I would not make another painful visit to you. [Maybe not for your message board, but funny to put in a letter to someone you don’t want to see again, but you still want to be Biblical about it.]

And my nominations for funny ones that win the award for “Unnecessary restating of the line above” or “Stating the obvious” go to:

Genesis 10: 8-9 Cush was the father of Nimrod, who grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; that is why it is said, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord."

III Corinthians 5:3 When we are clothed, we will not be found naked.

Oops - the last one should have said "II" Corinthians. I guess I got a little carried away with the Roman numerals.
