why didn't yall tell me??

i didn't know christmas was coming before thanksgiving this year!! now, i may inadvertently step on a few toes by saying this, but i'm just gonna do it. yall...it it NOT quite time to put up the christmas decorations. getting them out, probably. looking in walmart or target and getting all festive, absolutely. but santa sittin' on your honkin' porch with your wreathes all up and your tree plainly visible from the road. no ma'am!! please...one holiday at a time. i LOVE thanksgiving. it is fall still so it's not cold. and it typically involves all of the family without all of the presents (sorry...just a little preseason bah humbug...even though, if there is a kid within 50 feet, i want to get 'em something and be first in line for Santa's village!)

anywho, i have a dilemma that i'm sure i'm gonna have to whip out the sewing machine to solve. (and this is where i am really wishing you holly homemakers who i am completely jealous of would pick me out some super cute fabric b/c i'm not good and mixin' and matchin'). the dilemma is this...back before seth was born, i bought these super cute quilted stockings.

(i bought 4 b/c we KNEW we were gonna have 2 kids. we always said 3, but said we'd finalize that decision once the 2nd got here. still don't know why we said that. we always new we wanted more than 2.) anyway...i got them at walmart. dummy only got 4. we are now a family of 5. now, the 5 is a permanent thing. trust me...it is permanent outside of Divine intervention. so now, my stockings won't match. guess who doesn't sell them anymore??? ANYWHERE?!! have i mentioned that i'm a little OCD?? so now i'm on the hunt for cute fabric and need to get to sewin' so i can get my friend harriette to get to monogramming. somebody help me.

anyway...MERRY THANKSGIVING!!!

maybe it's time to ditch the 4 stockings and go for all new ones? if you've gotta make 1...you might as well make 5. i think a bunch of cute mix and match fabric would be adorable.

You could just have 3 stocking just for the kids - that's what we do - and by the way, my house is decorated for Christmas (INSIDE ONLY) - I will decorate the outside the weekend before Thanksgiving - I have a busy week Thanksgiving (15 adults + children at my house, then the AU/AL game, then work, and on and on, so it was now or NEVER) I'm not offended by your post at all - I'm embarrassed by my speediness (hence, the no outside decs yet).

at least ya can't see it from the road. and i haven't thought about just doing them for the kids...that make sense. hmmm...if i can't come up with some fabric, that solves the problem. plus the problem of the stocking holders, too. i have issues.

sara, i meant make 5 not just 1. i could never duplicate in any way anything close to those. i'm not that good. not by a long shot lol!!

Walmart has some cute Christmas fabric out! You could keep the two Santa one's for you guys and get the kids or make the kids new one's. Or.......get two solid colored one's for you and Micah and then when you hang them, you could do Santa, solid, snowman, solid, santa! Or somethng like that. Michael's usuallly has a variety! Sell them on Ebay if you decide not to keep the one's you've got!

Ok, we have 4 stockings too and John Martin WILL have to HAVE one. Thankfully I can find mine on ebay. They're the quilted ones from PBKids. Anywho... you can get them pretty reasonable on EBAY. I know because I've been watching them for weeks waiting to find JM's reindeer stocking for a steal! So, of course you could make them... but you have cookies to bake, preschool parties to attend and presents to wrap... go to ebay!! Or... if all else fails Michael Miller has really cute christmas fabrics! That's the polka dot I used on the back of my quilt!

Becky - funny that you posted this because I just posted the exact same thought. It is shamefully to skip over thanksgiving and dive straight into the Christmas rush. Poor pilgrams totally got the short straw this year! Happy Turkey to ya. Have ya tried ebay for the stockings?

You could always go on Ebay, you will probably find that same stocking there. Just know the brand name and design. I'm the same way about decorating for Christmas early, it's too much!

I say 5 new ones is the way to go. Pottery Barn has some cute ones (we got them last year) and there are lots of others out there.
OR, if they aren't monogrammed, then you could take one down and just have 3 for the kids. I'm just reading that on Kellie's comment, but I was thinking the same thing.
And Amen about the Christmas. thanksgiving has TOTALLY been skipped EVERYWHERE! It is killing me!!

alright. i bought new ones on ebay. i totally didn't watch them. i just went on and bought them. i'm sure i'll be in trouble, but my OCDness is at ease. anyone need 4 that look a LOT like the PB ones. and i found a lot of 5 of the PB ones that i bought. and it was KILLING me to go against what i saw as total eye candy (the ones that were made from ticking). but had to. all of my christmas stuff is more RED red and not so cranberry. sighs...still cute!

I'm with ya on the Christmas decorations. Two weeks ago we passed a house that was decked out with trees, lights, the whole nine yards:) Maybe they just didn't take it down from last year, and decided it was okay to turn it on already...although I think leaving it up year round bothers me more than puttin' it up early:)
Try Ebay for the stockings, maybe?
