mother's day DOUBLE giveaway!!

are you ready girls?? cause as promised, it is time. Christine and I had a conversation back and forth via Etsy and decided to have a giveaway that ties into mother's day. (i know it seems like i'm skipping easter, but i promise i'm not. but if you would like a gift to GIVE or RECEIVE by that time, we need to get "hoppin'"!) and as we talked, she thought that she'd give away not one...but TWO original hand crafted pieces!! can you believe it? (that means there will be 2 winners!!)

so this is what we are doing. i want you to leave me a comment telling me a favorite memory about your mom. it can be absolutely anything. ALSO, if you ARE a mom, tell me one of your favorite things about being one. or if you aren't and WANT to be one, tell me what you most look forward to!

here's the deal, i will leave this post up until wednesday, April 1st. (cause it would be better to get a treat than a trick on april fool's day!). you will have until 5 p.m. CDT to enter. I will post the winner by 9 p.m. the same night (yall will have to give me that much time to cook supper and help get folks wound down for bed. i'm a mama too you know!!) you are allowed to enter your memories separately, increasing your chances to win (one about your mom, one about you as a mom.) you may also enter (separately) your favorite memory with each of your kids...again, increasing your chances to win!!

go to Christine's Etsy shop LaBella Jewels and look around. figure out what you want. let me know what your favorite 2 are. i can't WAIT to read your entries. I'll come back and post an update here in a little bit so that you can know what mine are. (i got folks to get down for nap time!) get to writing!! OH--if you link to me on your blog, i'll give you an extra vote. just so you know, these will all be read and judged. so i'm not picking a winner necessarily randomly!!

I'm first!!! Not always good for giveaways...I will tell you my favorites are the squarely modern and the 4 layered circles (can't remember the name).
It's hard to just have 1 favorite memory of my momma. She is a funny girl, you know. I just like that she doesn't take herself too seriously and will act the same age as whichever grandchild is around her. (sometimes it's hard to tell who the child is) She will play in the floor or bake cookies (always cookies) or dance or anything they ask. This makes me love her even more...for loving my babies more than me!
I am going to come back when other people have commented to disburse my comments...

Okay - favorite memory of my Mom....would have to be the time we went on vacation with her sisters and their families and dave and I (before kids) to a lakehouse, and I got to see my Mom, the teetotaler, do her first shot of tequila and smoke a cigar with my husband. HILARIOUS. She's the best mom in the world and I love that she's adventurous :)

And now, my favorite memory AS a mom (because I TOTALLY am digging on that layered necklace) is each of the nights I brought my kids home from the hospital and slept with them in our bed. Everyone was asleep but me and all I could think of was how incredibly lucky I was to have this family. Both times I just sat there and balled like a baby :)

I love being a mother. One of my favorite things about being a mother is hearing my son laugh. He is only 11 months but put him into the bath and he becomes a giggle box. I also love going to get him from his crib in the mornings because he is especially loving in the morning. I really like the Hand Stamped Circle of Names Necklace. I also love 3 Charm Family Heirloom - Stamped on Both Sides - Thick Charms. Thanks so much for the giveaway

As a daughter, I always love having the heart to heart talks with my momma on the way down to Grady's Seafood in Graceville! WE would go on Wednesday nights, just her and me and I LOVED every minute of it!

One of my favorite moments of being a mom was feeling my children move inutero. I use to love tapping my pregnant belly to have my little ones tap back. I would sit forever just watching my belly bounce and feeling those wonderful movements. Then seeing their precious faces for the first time, feeling like I had known them forever. It was an awesome feeling!

As a momma, I LOVE everything! I know, I know just pick one...hmmmm when Anderson says Momma it just melts my heart and I could just eat him up! I love everything on her site! Just anything would do! Love it!

Now my favorite memory of my momma. It would have to be the way my momma got so excited over all the holidays. She was the very best santa and easter bunny ever. She would always make every holiday the very best. I will always remember her way of telling us the "truth" about Santa. She said Santa would always remind you of the innocence of being a child and as long as you wanted, Santa would bring out the kid in you and live forever in your heart. I am now striving to make that kind of memory for my children. I will have to ponder and let you know my favorite jewelry pieces.

One of the things that I love the most about being a Mommy is when my son, Zach, climbs into bed with me and "holds" me. There is nothing in the world like wakeing up snuggled up against my favorite little man. That is one of my favorite things about being a Mommy.

Vaughn said...

I would say that my favorite memory about my mother is when my dad asked my brother and I, if it would be ok to ask her to marry him. I remember thinking that I was finally going to have a mother! That is one of the best memories that I have. I was such a happy little girl and looking back, she accepted us as her own. That is a special woman.

I am also loving the layer necklace and the eternity necklace. I also added a link to your site

The greatest memory of my mother who went to be with the Lord December 15th 2008 was just seeing how her face would light up when all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would be with her all together on any occasion. She was a very loving lady to anyone she came in contact with even until the last day she remembered beening on earth.

Tambo said...

The greatest memory of being a mother was the bonding of both my girls while carrying them during my pregnancy and that little thumb againest my stomach reminding me that God was creating that bundle of joy within me. And how he almost created them to look the same.

I have only had the priviledge of being a mother for 8 short weeks. I remember people telling me that I could never prepare myself for how much love I would immediately have for him and were they ever right!! I actually saw a quote today that expresses that feeling. It said, "Your first breath took ours away." (and it did) I expressed this thought to my mother shortly after my son was born and she said, "You know, as much as you love your son, it only scratches the surface compared to how much God loves his children." Wow! That really hit home! My favorite memory/thing about my son is that he has given me a greater appreciation for God and His gift to us, His son. I will be better equipped in raising my son the way God would have me to because of my new closer relationship with God.

I love all of the lovely products, but I would have to say that my two favorites are the Picture of Blessings photo necklace and Picture of Blessings bracelet. The whole "motherly pride" is getting the best of me and I want a picture to show off on the spot. :)

Wow. Well, my mom is really a character, so it’s hard to pin down a “best moment.” A highlight reel would probably be better. I guess I’ll just go with the first one that comes to mind:
My mom was tired of just phoning in refills to the Naval Hospital pharmacy answering machine. (This is during the 80s, so an answering machine was as high tech as pharmacy refills got at the time.) She said that she felt bad for whoever had the job of listening to the machine and writing out the orders…so she started writing songs before each medication phone-in. Most of them were the tune of Beatles songs, and she would sing them into the machine – sometimes even with a record providing the musical accompaniment in the background. It was awesome…though in retrospect, I’m not sure why they didn’t slip in a sedative or two when they filled each order.

I am a mom to our pug and maybe some people think I’m a crazy dog person for that statement – and they’d be right. But the fact is that in the absence of children, that little dog has taught me gentleness and firmness and responsibility and how to love something absolutely and completely, even when my favorite pair of shoes is chewed up in his defense, he hasn’t done that since he was a puppy) and despite freezing morning walks. He’s taught me not to be bothered by throw up, spit, snot, or poo. He’s taught me that innocent kindness can bring a smile to just about anyone’s face, from the most dour loner to a person suffering from Alzheimer’s to a sad child waiting at the bus stop. He’s taught me that there is nothing in the world better for a mama than when the little one just jumps up on your lap for no reason other than that s/h wants to be near you. So yeah, I’m a crazy dog person; but even if God never decides to grant us a child through pregnancy or adoption, I’ll know that I am already a mom.

As far as the moment I’m most looking forward to if I ever have a human baby of my own (and you are totally so amazing for making this option available and not leaving out those of us in this category), I think it is going to be that first moment when I get to look at him or her and realize that God has either brought our genes together to form this little miracle or put the pieces all in place in someone else’s life to bring us that specific child because of what we can offer him/her and what he/she can teach us. It may not be deep or profound, but it’s that feeling of sitting with my husband and knowing that we are holding God’s plan for the both of us in our arms that excites me most.

Ok. I saw this last night and had to come back to comment after I had given it some thought.
One of the things that I LOVE about my mom is that she enjoys the moment that she is living in. Whether we are at the beach, in her kitchen or with family anywhere, she always says, "Isn't this great!?" and is just fun to be around. I wish I could be more like that. She does her share of worrying, too- especially when I was in high school- but I think overall she is a Godly woman who rejoices in each day that the Lord has made.

A good example of this is that she licks her plates clean with her finger. It's gross, but she REALLY enjoys whatever she's eating each day. Her favorite is spaghetti and she licks that plate with her finger EVERY time.

Dear Lord, I hope she isn't reading this.

Squarely Modern, Sterling and copper and the one that you have are all adorable! Reminds me a lot of Lisa's stuff! I wish I had that much talent in my pinky. They are beautiful!! Thanks for a fun giveaway!

I am eating up your comments section, but I know you don't mind!
OK- my favorite moment with Owen is anytime that I see him start to "get" something. Even the sneaky times. For instance, this morning, I took away a train because he had basically tackled his little brother for it. I told him that he had to apologize and he did. Then he kissed Harris on the forehead and asked if I saw he sweet he was. I told him yes and then he sweetly peeped up from those blonde bangs and asked, "Can I have my train back, now?"
*ahem* I stifled a laugh.
NO!
Because the best thing that I've read recently that is keeping me motivated in my discipline is that kids will treat you the same way when they are 13 that they did when they are 3. WHOA! That'll wake you up!

OK- about to comment again for Harris!

Hillary @ The Other Mama said...

For my little H-man, I think I love seeing him learn things so much faster than his brother. Not to compare, but since they are my only ones, I think it's fair to just go by my only other experience. I always thought that being the oldest was the greatest advantage, but now I realize that I was just the test rat, the guinea pig, the first pancake. As the second child, Harris is running, talking, defying, joking- much faster than Owen did. And it also makes me sad *sniff sniff* that my baby isn't such a baby anymore. The tantrums don't make me sad, but the fact that he's old enough to throw them does!

Extra Credit: WV: Salon- where Hillary and Becky need to go at LEAST once a month and tell our hubbies that we are at a meeting.

First, my favorites are the My Heart stamped discs and the layers, like yours, except with two. My favorite memory of my mom...boy, that's hard. My daddy died when I was 10, so from that time on, it was me, my mom, and my grandmother (her mom) living in the house together...three women! My favorite memory from childhood is probably when she used to take me in her lap and read to me every day after lunch. She would read books that were hers when she was a little girl, and we still have those books! As an adult, my mom is now my best friend, and I love watching her with my boys. Seeing her take everything in at Disney World with Matthew, just as if he were her own, was great!

Melissa said...

My favorite thing about being a mom...simple, but it's hearing, "I love you, Mama", and them wrapping their tiny arms around my neck. I also loved feeling them move when I was pregnant.

Melissa said...

Favorite memory of Matthew: This just happened recently, and it's the most important thing that will ever happen to him...when he asked Jesus into his heart. Those little tears in his eyes when the preacher was talking to him about sin, and he said, "sometimes I lie" and me knowing that the Lord was working on his heart. Hard to watch, but yet knowing that he really does "get" it, and knowing that he is a child of God and going to heaven.

Melissa said...

Favorite memory of Luke: First, let me say that the second child is so much easier. I was so dumb with Matthew! That said, one of my favorite memories with Luke is when he was a couple of months old, and I had started back to work, and he was still getting up about 3:00 a.m. I would just get him and put him in bed with me, and snuggle him up close and he'd go right back to sleep. I probably would've never done that with Matthew, because I followed the rules! But with Luke, I knew it would be okay, and I just enjoyed the snuggling!

Okay so two things about my mom. For some reason it would drive me crazy when we would go out to eat and she would want a booth, and would be very specific about the location of where it was. It made me NUTS. Guess who now prefers a booth and is picky about where it is located in the restaurant! Also, she orders drink with light ice. I have so many memories of groaning and being like uchhhhhhh mom why do you always have to ask for light ice. Guess who now gets her drinks with light ice? Oh, and a third. When we would finish a meal, she always has one sip of drink and doesnt like to be rushed. I was always ready to go and didnt understand how she needed a sip. Why couldnt she have had the sip before? Well a certain little perfect angel (me) has to have her last sip before she goes!

I have many other mushy stories about my mom, but my other comments always make me laugh. I truly am my mothers daughter. I have so many other funny memories and traits. Also, I love love love the more precious than diamonds necklace!!!!

I'll have to get back to you on the favorite FL moment. I look forward to one day complaining about morning sickness and having a child's foot wedged in my ribs. I dream about being able to see my family and friends hold my child on the day it's born, especially Brad. I'm ready for the day that I can fuss because my kids are spoiled stinkin' rotten (and I know they will be). I look forward to seeing my kids fish with their Great-old Papa Moore and them getting to hear the same stories that we've hear over and over. I'm looking forward to seeing my kids spend time with Mane cooking or doing puzzles. Birthday parties, football/baseball games or beauty pageants (only if they want to of course. My looking forward to list goes on and on.

Me. Me. Me.... I starred you and meant to come back and forgot... so thank you for your reminder. Ok... My most favorite memory of my mother is when she would wake us up with breakfast in bed. It was always the most delightful spread. Not just cereal and toast... it was the whole she-bang. Fruit, muffins, eggs, juice. I have the most wonderful mother in the whole world and as I type she is painting my bathroom. Hands down. She's the best! And if I win... I may just have to give it to her because she deserves it way more than I do!!!!

My favorite memory with my Mom is pretty much all of them, but I'll play nice and just pick one. When my Mom would wake me up in the mornings, she would lightly scratch my back. It was the perfect way to wake up and she knew I'd be easier to deal with than when I got pulled out of the bed. She would also pack lunch for me and my sister and put in little notes that would make us laugh. I hope someday I'm at least half as good as she is.

I'm looking forward to seeing my parents faces when I get to tell them they're getting another grandchild. I'm excited to feel what it's like to be pregnant and get to hold my own baby and see who he or she looks and acts like. I'm looking forward to wondering what I did before I had a baby and having a noisy, laughter filled home.

One of my favorite memories of my mom was when I was older. I graduated from college and moved to Atlanta all in a months time. She never told me to not go even though I know she was scared and nervous for me to be so far away from home. She left me with a hug and a kiss and never let on how much is was killing her to let me go. I hope I can one day have that kind of courage with my own kids.

my favorite being a mom moment was the day that my daughter called me momma...now this did not happen until she was 5 years old because see i was not supposed to be able to have children and God gave me a wonderful husband who already had a beautiful daughter...so i had a ready made family...i fell in love with her before i fell in love with him...the first mother's day that we were married she made me a project at school with her little handprints and it said "to my mom" i melted...

my favorite memory of my mom is when i was little she would read to me every night from the laura ingles wilder series but especially right before christmas...after we read we would make stuff to put in boxes to take to children in our town who were not going to have a christmas...we even broke down on the side of the interstate one time...

I've been out of the loop for a couple of days, so I just saw that you had opened up for comments on your giveaway. My favorite necklace is the hand stamped circle of names. It's so hard to pick out just one favorite memory of my mother or my kids, so I picked out my favorite 'feelings' that I get. I love it when Lucius just randomly calls out "Mommy, I love you" cause I know that one day he will be too embarrassed to do that. Maggie melts my heart every time I arrive some where to pick her up. Her eyes light up and she runs to me. And even though she can't tell me that she loves me, I can tell by the look on her face. What sticks out most in my mind about my mother is the fact that I know she will always be there when I need her. She has come to stay with me with each child birth, she stayed with me for weeks after my surgery. And she is even letting my family live with her until we are able to get settled.
I am going to attempt to link to your page....Hope things are going great for you!!!! 4 more days to go....and the count down continues.

Hi Becky! I'm stalking from Hillary's blog again. ;-)

My mama is a God-lovin' caretaker. She handles any situation with a commanding and gentle hand. Whenever ANYONE is in need, my mom is there. One of my favorite moments was when mom rallied around one of her closest friends who was going through a divorce after 20+ years of marriage. Her husband had an affair.

Mom and her friends staked out the "other woman's" house, and in the middle of the night, ran around that house throwing holy water on it. It was like some commando mission, and she said they were all like giggly girls while they were doing it. She just wanted to give her friend an outlet for all the hurt, and they still laugh about it today.

Yeah!! the link worked!!

And my favorite thing about being a mom...

I love being in awe of my children. I know every mom says this about their kids, but they are so SMART! They surprise me every day at what they know. They both pick up the smallest details - hand gestures, facial expressions, new words...

They bring me so much joy. I am truly blessed!

I like the Sterling Simple Elegance necklace and the Te Amo necklace. The Te Amo one is really special since my husband is Mexican, and I hear this a lot. Beautiful!

I have a wonderful step-mother who has been a very big role in my life since I was eight years old. She came into my life and has been a real mother role to me not a step mother role. My greatest memories of her are all the times that my mother would fuse and do ugly things to me when she was angery with me my step mother would always say Tammy she will always be your mother and just always remember to never say or do anything you would regret in years to come to hurt your mother. Even though she left when you were four she will always be your mother and you need to love her. I did love my mother even in the times of anger but my dear step mother is what has kept me from seperating from my real mom and I thank her for that example. She could have just look down on my mother and could have been ugly to her but she never was. In fact another thing that I respect her for was she was by mine and my sisters side during the last few weeks and months of my mother's time here on earth and she could have just said I am not going to visit but she visited regularly and supported us. That makes her even more special to me.

I posted my favorite memory of being a mom a couple of days ago, but really had to give a lot of thought to what my favorite memory of my mom is. My favorite memory of my mom actually came from a very difficult time in our family's life. My mother's father was an alcoholic her whole life, so when we were younger we were never really allowed to be around him much. However, when he was in his 70s he became a Christian!! God really can change people! I watched that man change before my very eyes! It was wonderful! Well, my favorite memory of my mom was when my grandfather passed away. I was devastated! My mom though showed such strength at his funeral. I was amazed at her because I knew she was hurting much more than I, but she honestly trusted that because he had turned his life around that God would lovingly accept him into heaven. I remember my mom going up to his coffin, kissing her hands, and lifting them toward heaven. I know this is not a warm and fuzzy memory, but it really taught me a lesson about faith and strength and for that I will always be thankful.

I think about ten years ago I started sending my Mom flowers on my birthday. She loves it, and I love being able to still share that day with her, even though I'm ten hours away. That is one of my favorite traditions with her, so I guess it's not really a memory.

CLS said...

I'm only a Mom to furry kids and I remind myself every day that God has a plan for me. The thing I look forward to most if/when I am a Mom, is that you have that job for life, no matter what happens with the economy, the world, anything, no one can take that away from you. That has to be the most amazing feeling.

CLS said...

My favorites are the Front and Back Petite Mine for Eternity - Thick Sterling and the A Name and A Photo Stamped Soldered Bracelet.

I would give the first one to my Mom or the second one to my sister, Kira, because she should be a first-time Mom, pretty much anyday now. Come on Beck! That is totally worth it. I'll give you all the credit for it!!! ; )

Ok, one more, you don't have to count it if you don't want to. I did link to your blog though. One of my favorite memories about my mom is that she does the best impersonations of anyone I know, especially the witch and the lion from the Wizard of Oz. We went to see it when SEACT did it in Dothan and she pretty much quoted the WHOLE THING! Too funny!

It takes a good one to top locking Daddy out of the house and not feeling bad about it or cutting the grass in her bra with my sports bra on over it as a top, but I think my favorite FL moment is the night I thought someone had been in the house in Luverne and she came to "help" me. She showed up on my front door step with Daddy's .38 Special clinched between her index finger and thumb and her purse in the other (with her bra poking out the side of course). She said she didn't know how to shoot the gun but she brought it just in case I needed it - like I din't already have an arsenal in the house. And the bra, well that was in case we were kidnapped...she didn't want to be hauled around with saggy boobs. Gotta love FL.

Monica said...

Oh, and I've got a pretty stinkin' special "Mom" too! She's just like Teri's - same size and everything. Eventhough I didn't get the back rub to wake me up I did get the love and care just like I was her own.
