a lotta names...a lotta posts

i don't even have anything good to post for my 200th, but thought it should be recognized anyway.

what has actually been on my mind, not in a bad way, was how many "double names" we have. the old is becoming new again. when we were discussing names for ally claire, we never intended for her to have a double name. we kind of figured she'd have a one syllable like the boys or at least 4 letters like the boys (which by the way, just kind of happened, and by the time she came, we noticed the trend. i can tell the naming story later if there is any interest. i think i posted it before. it's not like it's interesting....ANYWAY!) we liked both names and luke kept calling her by both names, so she is ally claire (and it bugs the CRAP out of me when people call her just ally. especially when family members do it. they KNOW better and NOOOOOOO, we are NOT gonna shorten it. it is ally and claire. *stepping down from my soapbox*

anyway, here are the names of people's kids that i know. i am super glad my baby isn't alone and that most people's cheerleading sponsors will have a difficult time fitting all of their names on megaphones (b/c before finding out everyone's kids names, that was a concern for me. i know...i have issues that probably would benefit from medication.) without further adieu...our precious angels (and i'm not gonna link names for security sake.)

Ally Claire, Emma Claire, Claire Ryan, Anna Grace, Ava Grace, Ellie Grace, Zetta Grace, Mary Grace, Mary Fuller, Mary McKinnon, Mary Aplin, Laura Beth, Beth Ann, Anna Kate, Katie Beth (and 2 little men i know) Justin Michael and John Martin.

whew....

now, who am i leaving out?

That's hilarious! There are alot aren't there? And by the way, if you don't want to be pregnant any time soon, don't drink the water. I have counted 12-15 of friends/acquaintances who are due between March and May next year! So watch out!

Oh yeah, Lilly Kate is another blog friend's child's name. Emma Kate is the daughter of a girl that we grew up in Dothan.

Becky,
That's so funny about the double names and both of the girl names we had picked out for our daughter were doubles. Which ribbon did you find. The burgundy one with gold sewn in the middle or vice-cersa. Too funny and I sure do hope her name will fit on the megaphone or I will be calling Maria Shelor to figure out a new megaphone company. My mom just ordered bows for Zetta Grace from Allyson's comment on my blog. They were only $2 and my mom said you couldn't make them any cheaper. I love catching up with you and seeing how your family grows.

oh yeah, i forgot lilly kate...that's keith's daughter, right?? (i totally blog stalk them.)

and i'd have to have more than the water to get pregnant. that would require devine intervention since i had my tubes tied (clipped, burned and actual segments taken out to be exact!!) otherwise we would have to be careful b/c i'm pretty sure micah just walked in the room for AC (and the other 2 also!!)

and brandi--the one i found was the one that looked like "wonder bread"...polka dots. think it must have been a camp ribbon. i'm sure i have the others though...even though i haven't had hair long enough to need a ponytail holder in about 8 years!!

Emma Kate's sister is Marlee Beth.
My cousin is Marli Kate. We went to school with a Sara Beth. The Shealy's have a girl named Anna Katherine. I also taught a Margaret Anne. I LOVE DOUBLE NAMES. Even if I live in Vegas now, my little girl will have a double name.
I wish I had a double name. The only time I heard boths names was when I was in trouble.

We have a John Austin, Audrey Anna, and mine is double to family.
(I'm not telling who the above belong to for creepy internet reasons)
I can't stand it when people only use the first name either. Drives me crazy! Especially family! Get it right people...you hear everyone else calling them both! :)

Right there with you. When anyone calls Justin Michael "justin" I assume they are talking about my husband. Sometimes I feel like I literally have to hide the look on my face. It's so hard with Dr. offices and places like that. I try everything. I circle both names and am very persistent with it, but it is hard. I almost hyphenated his name for that reason (on the advice of an aunt who has a daughter with a double name) but Justin wasn't having that. I know it isn't intentional with most people and Justin Michael isn't a typical double name but that's what he goes by. It has gotten much better with family and at church though.

i put her name in "..." at our docs office and they are pretty good to call her that. sometimes the nurse doesn't catch it, but i can get over that. i'm not too much of a stickler. what urked me was when the guy who does announcements in our s.s class kept calling her ally and i kept correcting his communication, even including her name when i signed things. like Micah, becky, luke, seth and ally claire...like why would i include her middle name, but not theirs??

anyway, i know that it is very common now (and i had never paid that much attention to it before) and i just love those names. they can all be original without being something like "Quan-shane".

i'm sorry if anyone's child is named quan-shane.

Love it - glad we got recognized in there - good ole fashion southern names is what I call it! Both my boys go by their middle names - their first names are Abner and Edwin, so they will probably be quite embarassed their fist day of school EVERY year!!! Ha Ha - family names though.

Becky -- how on earth have we not discuseed the cheerleading megphone thing before???? That is totally my criteria for a girl's name, too! I read your remarks and thought "Finally! Proof that I am not alone in this concern!" Every girl's name I consider, I first mentally imagine on a megaphone. (I still have my high school one up in the attic, so I can even make a good mock-up if I need to.)
