what is correct blog etiquette?

when someone leaves you a comment, and you want to respond to what they said, do you respond in your own comment section or comment on their last blog post? i see and do both. what should we be doing? does anyone know? it would be nice if it posted people's email addresses (or if i just had everyones) and that way, i could just email a response. anyway, until someone tells me what is acceptable, i may just do both.

I do both a lot too. A lot of times I don't go back and look at the comments on the same post after I've left one so since I don't, sometimes I leave the other person a comment on there's but then sometimes, I feel like I need to leave a response on mine to anyone else that might read it. I think both is good..

I do both, too, but try to get an e-mail if it a long convo- like ours. And try to defend (if necessary) in my own comment section, if needed. :-)

I say reply to it in your comment section. That way the conversation stays together :) or if you have their email go that route.

Commenting on their blog would confuse other readers.

I've been blogging for years, and people generally respond in their own comments section.
